Setting up Chat Triggers
Chat Triggers are proactive messages that appear to website visitors based on conditions you define. Use them to greet visitors, offer help on specific pages, or re-engage users who have been browsing for a while.
Creating a trigger
Go to Settings > Chat Triggers and click 'Add Trigger'. Give it a name, write the message that will be shown to visitors, and configure the conditions: how many seconds to wait before showing the message, and optionally which pages it should appear on (e.g. only on /pricing or /checkout pages).
Page targeting
Use the URL filter to target specific pages. Enter a URL pattern and the trigger will only fire on matching pages. Leave the URL filter empty to trigger on all pages. You can create multiple triggers with different messages for different sections of your site.
How triggers work
When a visitor lands on a matching page and the timer elapses, a popup appears above the chat widget with your message. If the visitor clicks on it, the chat widget opens with the trigger message as the first message in the conversation. Each trigger is only shown once per visitor per session.
Best practices
Keep trigger messages short and helpful. Good examples: 'Need help choosing a plan? I am happy to help!' on your pricing page, or 'Having trouble checking out? Let us know.' on your cart page. Avoid showing triggers too quickly - 5-10 seconds is a good starting delay.
