AI Training Hub: teaching your bot
The Training Hub lets you add custom training content for your AI bot beyond your help center articles.
What is the AI Training Hub?
The Training Hub is where you shape your AI bot's knowledge beyond what's already in your help center articles. By feeding it additional context. Such as internal documentation, product details, or policy guidelines. You ensure the bot delivers accurate, on-brand answers across every channel. Think of it as your bot's custom curriculum: the better the training material, the smarter the responses.
Adding Training Sources
Go to Settings > Training Hub. From there you can add training content in several formats:
- URLs. Point the bot to live web pages so it can pull context directly from them.
- Text content. Paste plain-text snippets such as policies, FAQs, or product descriptions.
- Document uploads. Upload files containing detailed information the bot should reference.
The AI uses all of this material as context when answering customer questions, supplementing your existing help center articles.
Step-by-step
- Navigate to Settings > Training Hub in your Deskwoot dashboard.
- Click the option to add a new training source.
- Choose your source type (URL, text, or document upload) and provide the content.
- Save the entry. The AI will begin incorporating the new material into its responses.
- Test by asking your bot a question related to the newly added content to confirm accuracy.
Best-Practice Tips
- Keep content current. Review and update your training sources regularly. Outdated information leads to incorrect answers and frustrated customers.
- Be specific. Short, focused entries on a single topic perform better than long, multi-topic documents. Break large guides into smaller, clearly titled pieces.
- Use clear language. Write training content the way you'd want the bot to speak. Avoid internal jargon unless customers also use those terms.
- Avoid duplication. If a topic is already well covered in your help center articles, you don't need to add it again in the Training Hub. Duplicate content can create conflicting answers.
- Test after every change. After adding or editing a training source, run a few test conversations to make sure the bot responds as expected.
Common Pitfalls & Troubleshooting
- Bot ignores new content: Make sure the training source was saved successfully. Try refreshing the Training Hub page and confirming the entry appears in your list.
- Contradictory answers: This usually happens when two sources provide conflicting information. Audit your training material and remove or update the outdated entry.
- Vague responses: If the bot's answers feel generic, your training content may be too broad. Add more detailed, specific information on the topic in question.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Training Hub replace my help center?
No. The Training Hub supplements your help center articles. The AI bot draws from both sources when answering customer questions, so you should continue to maintain your help center as well.
How quickly does new training content take effect?
In most cases the bot begins using newly added material shortly after you save it. If you don't see the expected responses, try testing again after a few minutes.
Is there a limit to how much content I can add?
Refer to your current Deskwoot plan details for any limits on training sources. As a general rule, focus on quality over quantity. Concise, well-organized content yields the best bot performance.
