Slack notifications
Connect Deskwoot to your Slack workspace to receive real-time notifications.
Stay on top of customer conversations without leaving your team's communication hub. By connecting Deskwoot to your Slack workspace, you can receive real-time notifications about new messages, assignments, and other important events directly in your chosen Slack channels. This helps your support team respond faster and keeps everyone in the loop.
Connecting Slack
Follow these steps to link your Deskwoot account with Slack:
- In Deskwoot, navigate to Settings > Integrations > Slack.
- Click the Connect button.
- You will be redirected to Slack's authorization page. Select the Slack workspace you want to connect and review the permissions Deskwoot is requesting.
- Click Allow to authorize Deskwoot.
- Once authorized, you will be redirected back to Deskwoot. The integration status should now show as Connected.
After connecting, choose which Slack channel should receive notifications. It's a good idea to use a dedicated channel (e.g., #deskwoot-notifications) so alerts don't get lost in general conversation.
What Notifications Can You Receive?
Depending on your configuration, Slack notifications may include:
- New conversations. Get alerted the moment a customer reaches out.
- New messages. Stay informed when a customer replies to an existing conversation.
- Assignments. Know immediately when a conversation is assigned to you or your team.
Best-Practice Tips
- Use a dedicated channel: Sending notifications to a focused channel prevents important alerts from being buried under unrelated chatter.
- Fine-tune what you receive: If Deskwoot offers notification preferences within the integration settings, configure them so your team only sees the events that matter most. This reduces noise and notification fatigue.
- Pin the channel: Ask team members to pin or star the notification channel in Slack so it stays visible in their sidebar.
Troubleshooting
Notifications aren't appearing in Slack
- Verify the integration still shows as Connected in Settings > Integrations > Slack.
- Confirm that a Slack channel has been selected to receive notifications.
- Check that the Deskwoot app has not been removed from your Slack workspace. A workspace admin can verify this under Slack > Settings > Manage Apps.
Received a "re-authorize" prompt
Slack tokens can occasionally expire or be revoked. If this happens, disconnect the integration in Deskwoot and repeat the connection steps above to generate a fresh authorization.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I send notifications to multiple Slack channels?
The integration sends notifications to the channel you configure in the Slack settings. If you need different notification types in different channels, check your Deskwoot integration settings for any available routing options.
Do I need to be a Slack admin to set this up?
You typically need permission to install apps in your Slack workspace. If the Allow button is unavailable, ask your Slack workspace admin to approve the Deskwoot app first.
Can I disconnect Slack later?
Yes. Return to Settings > Integrations > Slack in Deskwoot and click Disconnect. Notifications will stop immediately, and you can reconnect at any time.
