AI Training Hub: teaching Fynn
The Training Hub lets you add custom training content for your AI bot beyond your help center articles.
The Training Hub is where you give Fynn, the Deskwoot AI bot, the knowledge it answers from. It accepts exactly 4 source types: a help center import, a website crawl, document uploads, and FAQ pairs. The more accurate the material, the better Fynn answers, because it only replies from what you provide.
What are the 4 training source types?
Open Settings > Training Hub and add any mix of these:
- Help center import. Pull in your published help center articles so Fynn can quote them directly. This is the fastest way to get started if you already write articles.
- Website crawl. Point Fynn at a URL and it crawls those pages for context, so product, pricing, and policy pages feed the bot without copy and paste.
- Document upload. Upload files in PDF, CSV, or TXT format. Good for handbooks, spec sheets, return policies, and anything that already lives in a document.
- FAQ pairs. Add question and answer pairs by hand. Best for the exact phrasing of common questions where you want Fynn to answer a specific way.
Fynn uses all of these as context when it replies. The Training Hub is available on the Startup plan and above.
How do I add a source?
- Go to Settings > Training Hub in your dashboard.
- Click to add a new source and choose one of the 4 types above.
- Provide the content: import your help center, enter a URL to crawl, upload a PDF, CSV, or TXT file, or type an FAQ pair.
- Save. Fynn starts folding the new material into its answers.
- Ask Fynn a question about the new content to confirm it picked it up.
Tips for better answers
- Keep content current. Review your sources regularly. Out of date material leads to wrong answers and annoyed customers.
- Be specific. Short, focused entries on a single topic beat long, multi-topic documents. Break big guides into smaller, clearly titled pieces.
- Write the way you want Fynn to speak. Skip internal jargon unless your customers use those terms too.
- Avoid duplication. If a topic is already well covered by a help center import, you do not need to repeat it as an FAQ pair. Conflicting copies create conflicting answers.
- Test after every change. Run a couple of test chats so you know Fynn responds the way you expect.
Troubleshooting
- Fynn ignores new content. Confirm the source saved and shows up in your Training Hub list. For a website crawl, check that the crawl finished.
- Contradictory answers. Two sources probably disagree. Audit your material and update or remove the stale one.
- Vague responses. The content may be too broad. Add more detailed, specific information on that topic.
Frequently asked questions
What source types does the Training Hub support?
Exactly 4: a help center import, a website crawl, document uploads (PDF, CSV, or TXT), and FAQ pairs. There is no internal-notes, Slack, or Confluence source.
Does the Training Hub replace my help center?
No. The help center import is one of the 4 sources, and Fynn can draw from all of them. Keep maintaining your help center as usual.
What file formats can I upload?
Document upload accepts PDF, CSV, and TXT files. Use it for handbooks, policies, spec sheets, and other content that already lives in a document.
How quickly does new training content take effect?
Fynn usually starts using new material shortly after you save it. A website crawl needs to finish first. If you do not see the expected reply, test again after a few minutes.
