Common questions
How does per-agent pricing work?
You only pay for agents who log in and reply to conversations. Customers (contacts) are unlimited and free on every plan. Add or remove agent seats anytime; we pro-rate by the day.
What's the difference between an AI conversation and a customer conversation?
A customer conversation is one thread with a customer (any number of messages). An AI conversation is the meter for AI usage: one count per conversation per month, regardless of how many AI actions (bot reply, Copilot summarize, translate, etc.) happen inside it.
What counts as an AI Copilot action?
Suggest reply, summarize, translate, improve draft, detect language. The first action on a conversation in a month adds 1 to the meter. Every additional action on the same conversation that month is free.
Can I bring my own OpenAI / Anthropic API key?
Yes, on Startup and above. Bot conversations running on your own key are unmetered (you pay your provider directly). Agent-side Copilot always runs on Deskwoot-managed AI.
What happens if I exceed my included AI conversations?
Overage debits your prepaid balance at the plan's rate ($0.07 Startup, $0.05 Business, $0.03 Enterprise). Auto-recharge keeps the bot running without manual intervention.
Are there hidden costs?
No. Deskwoot charges per agent and per AI conversation. WhatsApp may incur per-conversation fees from Meta, and SMS providers (Twilio) bill you directly for SMS segments. Both are passed through at cost.
Can I migrate from Zendesk, Intercom, Freshdesk, Chatwoot, or Crisp?
Yes. Built-in importers bring over conversations, contacts, custom attributes, labels, canned responses, and help-center articles. The Chatwoot importer covers 14 data types.
Can I change plans at any time?
Upgrades take effect immediately, with the price difference prorated to the day. Downgrades and cancellations take effect at the end of your current billing period: you keep paid access through the date you've already paid for. On an annual plan that means a downgrade or cancel applies at the end of the year you've already paid; we don't refund unused months. Annual billing comes with roughly 20% off versus monthly.
