Sign in to the iPhone app, switch accounts and use Face ID

Sign in to the Deskwoot iPhone app with your email and password, enter your two factor code, add several logins, lock the app with Face ID and what the Update required screen means.

Updated October 7, 2026Also available in: Deutsch, Português

You sign in to the Deskwoot app for iPhone with the same email and password you use on the web. This article covers the sign in screen, the two factor code, several logins on one phone, the Face ID lock and the Update required screen. The app works on every plan, Hacker included. Everything else in the app is in The Deskwoot iPhone app.

  1. Open the app. The screen says Sign in to your account.
  2. Enter your Email and Password and tap Sign in.
  3. If your account uses two factor authentication, enter the code next (see below).
  4. After the first sign in on this phone, the app asks Enable Face ID? (or Enable Touch ID?). Tap Enable to lock the app with your face or fingerprint, or Not now. The app asks this only once, and you can change it later (see below).

The app signs in with email and password only, and you can't create an account in the app. Sign up at deskwoot.com under New to Deskwoot? opens deskwoot.com in your browser. Forgot password? opens the password reset on deskwoot.com as well.

When a sign in fails, the reason shows above the button, for example "Email or password is incorrect. Please check both and try again." or "Too many sign in attempts. Please wait a few minutes and try again."

Enter the two factor code

When two factor authentication is on for your account, the Two-factor authentication screen asks for the 6 digit code from your authenticator app. The app checks the code as soon as you type the sixth digit, or when you tap Verify. Cancel takes you back to the sign in screen.

The app has no field for a recovery code, and you can't set up or turn off two factor authentication in the app. You do both on the web, see Two-factor authentication.

Confirm your email

If you signed up on deskwoot.com but never confirmed your email address, the app shows You're almost in after you sign in. Enter the 6 digit code from the email and tap Continue. Resend code works after 60 seconds. Wrong email? Sign up again takes you back to the sign in screen.

Use several logins on one phone

  1. Go to More and tap your name at the top. The Switch account sheet opens.
  2. Tap Add another account and sign in with the other email and password. The login you had stays signed in.
  3. To switch, open the sheet again and tap a login. A check mark shows the one you are using.

With more than one login, the top of More shows how many, for example "2 accounts". You get push notifications for every login on the phone, and tapping one opens the conversation in the right login. Edit profile of current account opens Settings.

To take a login off the phone, press and hold it in the sheet and confirm with Sign out. More > Settings > Sign Out signs out the login you are using. If another login is still on the phone, the app switches to it instead of showing the sign in screen.

Switch account changes the login, not the workspace. The app has no workspace picker: if one login belongs to several workspaces, the app opens one of them and only moves to another when you tap a push or a link from that workspace.

Lock the app with Face ID

Go to More > Settings > Security and turn on Sign in with Face ID (Sign in with Touch ID on an iPhone with Touch ID). iOS checks your face or fingerprint once to confirm. The setting applies to the login you are using, on this phone. If Face ID or Touch ID is not set up on the iPhone, the switch can't be turned on and the app asks you to set it up in the iOS Settings first.

The app asks for Face ID:

  • when it starts fresh, for example after you closed it in the app switcher, restarted the iPhone, or iOS closed it in the background
  • when you switch to a login that uses Face ID, also when a push opens that login

It does not ask again when you return to the app while it is still running, for example from another app or the home screen.

On the lock screen, tap Use Face ID (or Use Touch ID). If Face ID does not recognize you, iOS offers your iPhone passcode instead. Sign out signs this login out. If the iPhone has no passcode anymore, Deskwoot can't check that it's you: tap Sign in with password and sign in again.

While the lock screen is up, the app does not tell Deskwoot that you are here. If Deskwoot is not open on any of your devices for more than 5 minutes, round robin skips you and gives new chats to teammates who are online. See Auto assignment and round robin.

Why the app signed you out

  • Your password changed, for example after a reset on deskwoot.com. The sign in screen says "Your password was changed, so you were signed out. Please sign in again with your new password." and keeps your email filled in. If another login is on the phone, the app switches to it and shows Password changed.
  • Sign out of all other devices on the web signs the app out as well.
  • You no longer belong to any workspace. The app says that this login has no access to any workspace anymore and was signed out on this device.

Reset login data

If signing in keeps failing, tap Trouble signing in? Reset login data at the bottom of the sign in screen and confirm with Reset. This signs every Deskwoot login out of this phone and deletes the saved login data, the Face ID settings included. Then sign in again.

Update required

When your app version is too old, the app only shows Update required: "A new version of Deskwoot is out. Update the app to keep using it." Tap Update in the App Store, install the update and open the app again. Until then you can't use the app. The app checks when it starts and when you come back to it. If it can't reach Deskwoot, for example without internet, it keeps working as usual.

Your version is shown at the bottom of the sign in screen and under More > About.

Frequently asked questions

Can I create a Deskwoot account in the app?

No. Tap Sign up at deskwoot.com, create the account in your browser, then come back to the app and sign in.

I lost my authenticator app. How do I sign in?

The app only accepts the 6 digit code. On the web, the sign in offers Use a recovery code. Sign in there, open the Security page in your settings, click Disable 2FA and confirm with your password. Then click Enable 2FA and scan the new QR code with your authenticator. From then on the app takes the new code. See Two-factor authentication.

Why doesn't the app ask for Face ID when I switch back to it?

It only asks when the app starts fresh or when you switch to a login that uses Face ID. To lock it right away, close Deskwoot in the app switcher.

Does signing out turn Face ID off?

Sign Out in Settings keeps your Face ID choice for that login on this phone. Removing the login with a long press in Switch account, or Trouble signing in? Reset login data, turns it off.

Do I get pushes for every login on my phone?

Yes. Every login on the phone gets its pushes, also the ones you are not using right now. Tapping a push opens that login, and if it uses Face ID, the app asks for it first.

Can I switch between workspaces of one login?

Not in the app. Switch account changes the login. The app opens one workspace of a login and moves to another one only when you tap a push or a link from there.

The app says there were too many sign in attempts. What now?

Wait a few minutes and try again. If it still fails, check your password with Forgot password? on deskwoot.com.
